Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held the third Pre-Budget Consultation meeting inNew Delhi today with representatives from the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector. The meeting was part of the government’s preparation for the Union Budget 2026–27.
The main goal of the meeting was to collect ideas and suggestions from the MSME sector. This sector is very important for India’s economy because it provides jobs and supports industries in many areas. Members from different MSME associations and business groups shared their opinions on how the government can help small businesses grow, make it easier for them to get loans, and solve everyday business problems.
Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, the Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs, and senior officials from the Ministry of MSME also attended the meeting. They listened to the participants’ concerns and promised that their feedback would be taken into account while preparing the new budget.
Pre-Budget meetings like this help the government better understand the needs and priorities of different industries before the final budget is presented in Parliament.
Through these discussions, the government aims to make the budget fair, practical, and more helpful for industries that support India’s economy — especially the MSME sector, which is considered the backbone of the nation’s economic growth.
