New Delhi [India], May 6 (ANI): Aaron Finch, a former Australian cricket captain, has praised Sanju Samson for his outstanding performance during Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) eight-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday night in the IPL 2026.
Samson was named Player of the Match after scoring an unbeaten 87 off just 52 balls, which included seven fours and six sixes. His impressive innings helped CSK chase down a target of 156 runs comfortably in 17.3 overs. This win was crucial for CSK as they continue their playoff campaign.
Speaking on ESPNcricinfo’s TimeOut show, Finch discussed the pressure faced by high-profile players like Samson when joining a team like CSK. He mentioned that Samson struggled in his first few matches, which caused some concern.
Finch noted that performing consistently under such pressure is extremely challenging, especially in T20 cricket. He acknowledged the difficulty of transitioning to a new franchise and meeting expectations, particularly after being traded for a significant amount.
Samson had a successful run at the end of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup but faced challenges adapting to CSK. Finch emphasized that despite this, Samson has shown resilience by overcoming early struggles and delivering when it matters most.
Finch concluded by highlighting how Samson’s performance demonstrated why he was worth the investment, calling his batting “on a different level.”
After their convincing win over DC, CSK sits in sixth place with five wins from 10 matches. (ANI)
