Cameron Green has had a tough start with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2026. Despite being their most expensive overseas player, purchased for ₹25.20 crore, he hasn’t performed well either with the bat or the ball. Cricket Australia hasn’t cleared him to bowl yet due to a back injury, forcing him to focus solely on batting.
Green’s scores in the first three matches have been 18, 2, and 4, which is far from his best form. KKR captain Aaron Finch has noticed the change in Green’s game. He mentioned that Green doesn’t look like the confident player he was during IPL 2023 with Mumbai Indians, where he scored 452 runs and took six wickets.
Finch advises KKR not to move Green down the batting order despite his poor form. Instead, he suggests either keeping him at the top or giving him rest. Green has batted at positions 3 and 4 in KKR’s matches so far.
Finch also criticized KKR’s decision to bat first against Punjab Kings under overcast conditions, which led to a rain-affected match being abandoned after only 3.4 overs. He believes that chasing would have been the better option due to the likelihood of rain, as the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method benefits the team batting second more.
KKR earned their first point from this no-result match but is still winless in IPL 2026 after losing two matches. They will face Lucknow Super Giants next on April 9.
