Fire at Rajasthan HPCL Refinery Before PM Modi’s Inauguration

A fire broke out at a refinery-cum-petrochemical complex in Balotra district on Monday (April 20, 2026). The incident happened just one day before the planned inauguration of the facility by Narendra Modi.

The refinery is operated by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, a government-owned oil company. The complex is an important industrial project in the region.

Although there has been no official confirmation yet, videos shared on social media show flames rising from inside the refinery area. The fire appears to have been contained within the facility, and it did not spread outside the complex.

Authorities have not yet shared details about what caused the fire or how much damage was done. Investigations are expected to begin soon to understand the reason behind the incident.

The timing of the fire has raised concerns because the facility was scheduled to be inaugurated the next day. Officials are now reviewing safety measures before moving ahead with the event.

Further updates are expected once more information is released by the authorities.
