A fire started on the first floor of Express Avenue Mall in Royapettah on
Friday morning. People inside the mall noticed smoke coming from a clothing
shop, and the mall staff immediately alerted the fire and rescue department.
Fire and rescue teams reached the mall within minutes. They quickly evacuated
the area around the shop and made sure everyone was safe. The firefighters then
worked to control the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby stores.
According to officials, the fire started in a clothing showroom. They believe
it was caused by an electrical short circuit, which often happens when wires
overheat or get damaged.
Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident. The mall management said they
are checking all electrical connections to avoid such accidents in the future.
The affected shop is now closed for repairs, and the rest of the mall has reopened
for customers after safety checks.
