Governor, CM Attend Republic Day Ceremony

Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi unfurled the national flag in Chennai on Monday (January 26, 2026) as part of the Republic Day celebrations. The ceremony took place in the presence of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, senior government officials, and other dignitaries.

Earlier in the morning, Chief Minister Stalin welcomed the Governor when he arrived at the saluting base for the official function.

After the flag was hoisted, the national anthem was played, and the Governor inspected the guard of honour presented by the police and armed forces personnel. Several contingents marched past the dais as part of the ceremonial parade.

Cultural programmes and tableaux showcasing Tamil Nadu’s heritage, achievements, and welfare schemes were also part of the celebrations. Students and various government departments participated in the event.

Republic Day is celebrated across the country every year on January 26 to mark the adoption of the Indian Constitution. The day is observed with flag hoisting ceremonies, parades, and cultural events to honour the nation’s unity and democratic values.
