Hockey India Names Senior Women’s National Coaching Camp Team

New Delhi, March 30 – Hockey India has announced a 31-member senior women’s national coaching camp. The camp will be held from April 1 to 9 as the India women’s national field hockey team prepares for a busy international season.

The team comes into this camp after a strong performance in the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 Qualifiers held in Hyderabad, where they won a silver medal. This result helped them qualify for the FIH Hockey Women’s World Cup 2026, which will be held later this year in Belgium and the Netherlands.

The coaching camp will focus on improving players’ fitness, sharpening their skills, and building better teamwork. It will be led by coach Sjoerd Marijne, who is working on preparing the team for upcoming major tournaments. These include the FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup 2026 in June, the World Cup in August, and the 2026 Asian Games in September.

The squad includes a mix of experienced players and young talent. In the goalkeeping group, Savita, Madhuri Kindo, Bansari Solanki, and Bichu Devi Kharibam have been selected. Bichu recently received the Hockey India Baljit Singh Award for Goalkeeper of the Year.

The defense line is strong with players like Nikki Pradhan and Udita leading the backline. In midfield, captain Salima Tete and Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam will play key roles in controlling the game and building attacks.

The forward line includes top scorers such as Navneet Kaur, who won the Hockey India Balbir Singh Sr. Award for Player of the Year (Women), along with Deepika Soreng and other young attackers.

Coach Sjoerd Marijne said the main goal of the camp is to build a strong and confident team that can perform well under pressure in important matches. The focus will also be on consistency and mental strength as the team prepares for big international competitions ahead.
