Imran Khan and HRCP Call for Probe Into Punjab Police Encounter Deaths

Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), along with the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, has called for a proper judicial investigation into the deaths of more than 1,000 people in alleged staged police encounters.

According to the HRCP, these incidents were carried out by the Punjab Crime Control Department, a special police unit created under Maryam Nawaz. The report claims that at least 1,000 suspects were killed last year in encounters that may not have been genuine. It also says there has been little or no action taken against the officers involved.

HRCP officials believe that some of these encounters were planned and carried out to show results or control crime, instead of following legal procedures. They say this raises serious concerns about human rights and the rule of law.

Imran Khan and his party have strongly criticized the situation. They argue that when police officers are not held responsible for such actions, it creates fear and insecurity among the public. They also warn that it can lead to a system where people can be targeted without proper investigation or legal process.

The issue has increased concerns about safety, justice, and accountability in Punjab. Many are now demanding transparency and strict action to ensure that such incidents are properly investigated and prevented in the future.
