India Bloc Postpones CEC Impeachment Hearing Until October 31

The INDIA bloc has postponed its planned public impeachment event against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar by one day. The event, which was originally scheduled for Friday, October 30, 2026, will now take place on Saturday, October 31, in New Delhi.

The programme was planned to be held at the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge. However, heavy rain in the national capital made the lawns muddy and unsuitable for the gathering. Due to the poor weather conditions, the organisers decided to postpone the event.

The INDIA bloc had made several arrangements for the programme. According to the earlier plan, former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar was expected to lead the proceedings. Mallikarjun Kharge was scheduled to present the impeachment motion, while Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi was expected to deliver the concluding remarks.

Leaders from different INDIA bloc parties had also held a meeting on October 29 to discuss and finalise the details of the event. During the meeting, they discussed how the programme would be conducted and how representatives from different political parties would take part.

As part of the plan, each party in the INDIA bloc was expected to have one representative speak during the proceedings. This arrangement was intended to give different parties an opportunity to express their views on the issue.

The postponement is due to the weather conditions and not a change in the announced programme. The organisers are expected to continue with the planned arrangements on October 31.

The event is likely to attract attention because of the INDIA bloc’s position on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Further political reactions and statements are expected when the programme takes place.
