Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw will take part in the G7 Critical Minerals Ministerial Meeting today in Washington DC, United States. This important meeting focuses on strengthening global supply chains for critical and strategic minerals that are essential for modern technology and economic growth.
In a post on social media, Mr Vaishnaw said that secure and reliable supply chains for critical minerals are very important to achieve the goal of Viksit Bharat (a developed India). He highlighted that access to these minerals is key for industries such as electronics, clean energy, and advanced manufacturing.
Mr Vaishnaw’s participation comes after recent comments by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who said that India, Australia, and several other countries would join a meeting of G7 finance ministers in Washington to discuss cooperation on critical minerals.
The discussions are expected to focus on reducing supply risks, promoting responsible sourcing, and increasing cooperation among countries to ensure long-term availability of these vital resources.
