SALEM: AIADMK general secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) has won again from the Edappadi Assembly constituency.

He secured a total of 1,48,933 votes and registered a strong victory. He defeated independent candidate K. Premkumar, who was supported by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor Vijay.

EPS won by a huge margin of 98,110 votes. Premkumar received 50,823 votes, while DMK candidate C. Kasi got 44,011 votes.

This is the sixth time Edappadi Palaniswami has won from this constituency since 1981. He had earlier lost the seat in 1996 and 2006, but has mostly maintained strong support in the region.

His latest win once again shows his strong political base in Edappadi and continued influence in the area.
