Cyclone Ditwah has caused heavy damage in many parts of Sri Lanka.
Continuous rain has led to loss of lives and property. The cyclone has
killed 123 people, 130 are missing, and more than 3.7 lakh people have
been affected. After several days of nonstop rain, the weather is slowly
improving as the cyclone moves north-northwest toward the Tamil Nadu coast.
Rescue work in Sri Lanka has improved with the arrival of Indian help during one
of the worst disasters since the 2017 floods. Trained NDRF teams and Indian
helicopters are helping save more lives. Officials said the death toll has
reached 123 and warned that many rivers are still at dangerous levels.
Under Operation Sagar Bandhu, India has sent two aircraft carrying 21
tonnes of relief supplies to support rescue operations. Authorities have
asked people to cooperate with evacuation efforts in affected areas.
