India Signs One-Year LPG Import Deal with US

India’s public-sector oil companies have finalised a one-year agreement to
import liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from the U.S. Gulf Coast, Union Petroleum
Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced on Monday (November 17, 2025).
According to the minister, this deal will help India secure a steady supply
of LPG, which is widely used for cooking in households across the country.
He said the agreement is important because it ensures that India will continue
to receive enough LPG even if global prices fluctuate or supplies become uncertain.
Puri added that importing LPG from the U.S. Gulf Coast will also help
strengthen energy ties between India and the United States. He noted that
the government is working to diversify the sources from which India buys
fuel, so the country is not dependent on any single region.
The minister said the government remains committed to providing clean cooking
fuel to all households and ensuring that LPG cylinders remain available and
affordable for consumers.
