India Targets 60% Semiconductor Production by 2035

In Chennai, a new report says that India is likely to meet about 60% of its semiconductor demand through local production by the year 2035. At present, the country produces only around 10% of the semiconductors it needs.

This growth is expected because India is increasing its investments in the semiconductor sector. More facilities for assembly, testing, marking and packaging (ATMP) are being set up across the country. These facilities play an important role in preparing chips for use in different electronic devices.

The report also mentions that India is focusing on manufacturing mature chips, which are widely used in industries such as automobiles, power systems and industrial equipment. In addition, there are plans to start some advanced semiconductor fabrication units in the coming years.

According to Deloitte India, these developments will help reduce India’s dependence on imports and strengthen its position in the global semiconductor market.
