India and Pakistan will clash in a Pool D match at the Wagener Stadium, Amstelveen, on Wednesday as they return to the World Cup stage after 16 years. Their last encounter in a World Cup was in 2010 in New Delhi.
India started their campaign with a win against Wales (3-1) but lost to England (2-4). Pakistan also lost to England and drew with Wales. India needs at least a draw to progress, while Pakistan must win to stay in the tournament. England has already qualified for the next round.
India has an edge in recent meetings, defeating Pakistan 7-1 and 4-3 earlier this year. However, Pakistan leads overall with more wins in head-to-head matches historically.
