Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has highlighted the important role of the Indian community in Sri Lanka, describing them as a strong link between India and Sri Lanka.
Singh made the remarks during his recent visit to Colombo, where he met members of the Indian diaspora. He said the community has an important role in promoting friendship, understanding and cooperation between the two countries.
Indian Community Builds Stronger Ties
Singh said the relationship between India and Sri Lanka is not limited to governments and official meetings. People-to-people connections are also an important part of the long-standing friendship between the two nations.
The Indian community in Sri Lanka has maintained strong cultural and social connections with India. At the same time, many members of the community have contributed to Sri Lankan society through their work, businesses and community activities.
Singh Meets Indian Diaspora
During his three-day visit to Sri Lanka, Singh met members of the Indian diaspora in Colombo. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the community’s contribution to India-Sri Lanka relations.
