India’s cricket tour to Bangladesh, initially set for September, might be postponed again. The tour was originally planned for August 2025 but was moved to September 2026. In January, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced that India would play three ODIs and T20Is in Dhaka and Chattogram.
During a press conference, BCB president Tamim Iqbal suggested that the series dates might change again. He mentioned ongoing discussions with the Indian board about scheduling. A domestic tournament, the Game Development Trophy, is scheduled from August 28 to September 9 in Dhaka.
Tensions between the BCCI and BCB have grown. This followed Bangladesh withdrawing from the T20 World Cup 2026 after refusing to play matches in India. Scotland replaced them in the tournament.
India is also set to face Afghanistan in a three-match T20I series starting September 13 in New Delhi. Meanwhile, India is currently in Sri Lanka for a two-Test series, winning the first match and preparing for the second in Colombo.
The proposed Bangladesh tour would be India’s first bilateral series since October 2024. The last series between the teams was in 2019, with India dominating both Tests and T20Is.
