India’s External Affairs Minister Stresses Navigation Freedom at G7 Meeting

At the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in France, India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar highlighted several important global security concerns. He stressed the importance of freedom of navigation for maintaining global trade and economic stability.

He raised concerns about the actions of China in the South China Sea and the Taiwan Strait. He said that free movement of ships in international waters is very important for all countries and should be protected.

Dr. Jaishankar also appreciated the G7 countries for increasing cooperation in critical minerals. These minerals are important for making clean energy technology, electric vehicles, and defence equipment. He said stronger cooperation in this area will help secure global supply chains.

He also spoke about the growing threat of narco-terrorism. He explained that money from illegal drug trade is being used to support terrorist groups, which is a serious global concern that needs joint action.

The meeting also discussed other major issues such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and new technologies like biotechnology. Leaders stressed the need for responsible use of technology and better global cooperation.

Foreign ministers also highlighted the importance of following international law and protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries. The discussions showed how complex global challenges are becoming and how countries need to work together to solve them.
