Kyle Jamieson, a New Zealand cricketer, was recently added to the Delhi Capitals team for ₹2 crore during the IPL 2026 mini-auction. However, he is now facing tough competition to secure a spot in the playing lineup. Players like Lungi Ngidi and Mitchell Starc are also vying for positions, making it challenging for Jamieson.
Despite this, Jamieson remains unfazed. He believes that waiting on the bench isn’t too difficult because there are still ways to contribute to the team, even without playing. He mentioned how important it is for everyone on the team to want to play and win, but only four overseas players can be in the squad at a time.
Jamieson praised Axar Patel, Delhi Capitals’ captain, for his leadership. He highlighted that Patel does an excellent job managing the bowlers and keeping the team atmosphere light during high-pressure situations.
When asked about his interactions with Mitchell Starc, Jamieson admitted they haven’t spoken much yet. He shared his thoughts on the challenges opening bowlers face, particularly in IPL’s power play. He suggested that smart field placements could help teams slow down opposing batters during this crucial period.
Before joining Delhi Capitals, Jamieson played for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings. In total, he has played 13 IPL matches, taking 14 wickets with an economy rate of 9.67.
Delhi Capitals will next face Gujarat Titans at Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 8th.
