High-profile Indian Premier League (IPL) matches between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) always bring excitement. A recent match at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium saw an unusual incident that sparked anger among RCB players.
During the game, mentor Dinesh Karthik brought water to captain Rajat Patidar and Devdutt Padikkal. However, an umpire took a sip from their bottle, upsetting Patidar and Karthik. Coach Andy Flower also confronted the umpire about this unexpected behavior.
Despite the on-field drama, RCB performed strongly. Tim David scored an unbeaten 70, and Padikkal contributed with 50 runs. Their partnership helped RCB reach a massive total of 250/3 in 20 overs. Patidar remained unbeaten at 48.
In response, CSK struggled without MS Dhoni and Dewald Brevis. Sarfaraz Khan top-scored with 50, but they fell short, being bowled out for 207 in 19.4 overs. Krunal Pandya’s crucial wickets of Sarfaraz and Kartik Sharma were pivotal.
After the match, Patidar praised Tim David’s consistent performance as one of the best finishers he has seen. He also expressed his trust in Krunal Pandya during pressure situations.
RCB, defending champions, will face Rajasthan Royals next on 10 April in Guwahati.
