IPL 2026: Rohit Sharma’s Return to Mumbai Indians Squad

Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Rohit Sharma missed his team’s IPL 2026 match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Mumbai due to a hamstring injury. The injury occurred during MI’s game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on 12 April, where he scored 19 runs before being forced out.

In Rohit’s absence, Quinton de Kock stepped in and played a crucial role, scoring an unbeaten 112 runs against Punjab Kings.

MI bowling coach Paras Mhambrey shared an update on Rohit’s condition ahead of the Gujarat Titans (GT) match, stating that he is now fit. However, there was no confirmation whether Rohit would play in the game.

Rohit resumed training on Sunday as he prepared for the GT clash. Both Rohit and Mitchell Santner are reported to be fit for the upcoming matches.

Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya had previously mentioned that Rohit might miss a few games to recover fully. MI has been struggling in IPL 2026, winning only one of their five matches so far.

Meanwhile, Mitchell Santner missed the Punjab Kings game due to illness but is now ready for action. In his two appearances this season, Santner has taken two wickets and scored 26 runs.

Rohit Sharma has been in good form this season, scoring 137 runs across four matches, including a half-century against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). MI, however, remains at the bottom of the IPL standings with just two points from five games.
