Goa has hosted IPL auctions before, most notably in 2009. During that year, players like Kevin Pietersen, Andrew Flintoff, and Mashrafe Mortaza were the stars due to their high bidding amounts. The auction was a major event, with Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff being acquired by Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings for $1.55 million each. Meanwhile, Mashrafe Mortaza caused a bidding war between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings, eventually joining KKR for $600,000.
In recent news, Rishabh Pant returned to Delhi Capitals from Lucknow Super Giants in a significant player transfer. He had spent nine seasons with Delhi before moving to LSG. To bring him back, Delhi Capitals offered a ₹12 crore salary cut, while Kuldeep joined LSG at his current fee of ₹13.50 crore as part of the deal.
