A week-long ceasefire started in Lebanon on Friday (April 17, 2026). The aim of this truce is to stop the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah after weeks of heavy violence.

This agreement is also seen as an important step towards wider peace efforts involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. Leaders hope that this temporary pause in fighting can help open the door for more talks and long-term peace in the region.

However, soon after the ceasefire began at midnight, Lebanon’s military accused Israel of carrying out acts of aggression. According to them, these actions go against the terms of the agreement and could put the truce at risk.

Hezbollah has not clearly confirmed whether it fully accepts the ceasefire. But the group said it would respect the truce as long as Israel stops its attacks. This shows that the situation remains uncertain and depends on both sides following the rules.

At the same time, Donald Trump said on Thursday (April 16, 2026) that the US and Iran are close to reaching a peace agreement. He also mentioned that he might travel to Pakistan to sign the deal.

Overall, while the ceasefire offers hope, tensions are still high. The coming days will be very important in deciding whether peace can continue or if the conflict will start again.
