Iran launched missiles at Israel early on Thursday (March 5, 2026), as the fighting in West Asia entered its sixth day. The situation has become more serious after an American submarine reportedly sank an Iranian warship. In response, Iran warned that it could target military and economic infrastructure across the region.
Soon after the missile launch, Israel confirmed that it had detected incoming missiles. The Israeli military said its defence systems were working to intercept and stop the missiles before they could cause damage. Sirens were sounded in several areas as a safety measure.
At the same time, Israel said it had started new airstrikes in Lebanon. The strikes were aimed at positions of Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed militant group, in the southern suburbs of Beirut. The Israeli military said these strikes were part of its ongoing operations against groups it considers a threat.
Hezbollah also issued a statement saying it would confront what it called Israel and the United States’ “aggression” and would not surrender. This has raised fears that the conflict could spread further in the region.
With both sides continuing attacks and threats, tensions in West Asia remain very high. Many countries are watching closely and calling for restraint to prevent a wider regional war.
