Israel Supports US Ceasefire Pause, Excludes Lebanon

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel supports the United States’ decision to pause military actions against Iran for two weeks. However, he made clear that this pause does not include Lebanon, where fighting between Israel and Hezbollah continues.

Netanyahu praised President Trump’s efforts to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear threat and reduce its missile and terrorism risks to the US, Israel, and other Arab nations. He emphasized that the proposed ceasefire applies only to conflicts directly involving the US and Iran, allowing Israeli operations in Lebanon to proceed.

Israeli forces have kept up their attacks on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon, with reports of recent airstrikes and exchanges across the border. Meanwhile, Hezbollah has carried out limited retaliatory actions against Israeli targets. Iranian officials have insisted that any long-term ceasefire must stop Israeli strikes on Hezbollah, calling their actions a form of self-defense.

In its proposed 10-point plan to end the conflict, Iran has demanded an end to Israeli military operations in Lebanon. Tehran has also tied progress toward a broader US-Iran ceasefire to reduced tensions along the Lebanon border, raising doubts about whether the two-week pause will hold.
