Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have completed a player swap with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), acquiring England’s Liam Livingstone and Australia’s Jack Edwards. In return, CSK sent left-arm seamer Khaleel Ahmed and pacer Nathan Ellis to SRH.
Jack Edwards, 26, is a right-arm medium-pace bowler from New South Wales. Despite being uncapped at the 2026 IPL auction, he was signed by SRH over CSK. However, a foot injury kept him out of IPL 2026. He has played regularly for Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League and featured in Major League Cricket with Ricky Ponting’s Washington Freedom.
Edwards made his T20I debut for Australia earlier this year against Pakistan and earned an ODI call-up for the South Africa series. In his second ODI, he took a impressive five-wicket haul, including key wickets of Temba Bavuma and David Miller.
With Khaleel Ahmed moving to SRH, CSK will rely on Mukesh Choudhary and Gurjapneet Singh for left-arm pace options. Meanwhile, Nathan Ellis joins Sunrisers Leeds after a brief stint with SRH.
Liam Livingstone brings extensive T20 experience with 8,595 runs and 171 wickets across 370 games. He recently scored 219 runs in ten innings for Glasgow Cosmic.
The trade comes as IPL franchises finalize their retention lists ahead of the mini-auction on December 16 in Goa. For CSK, Edwards offers a versatile seam-bowling option who can also bat, while SRH strengthens their pace attack with familiar faces.
Jack Edwards’ rise from an uncapped player to international success shows how quickly fortunes can change in IPL trading windows. Fans in Chennai will see him in action next season for CSK.
