Joey Logano Breaks Long Dry Spell at Richmond

Joey Logano ended a nine-year winless streak at Richmond Raceway with an exciting victory on Saturday night. The Team Penske driver narrowly outpaced Chase Briscoe by just 0.392 seconds to secure his 39th career NASCAR Cup Series win.

Logano expressed confidence after the race, stating, “Don’t let the boys get hot,” and praised his car’s performance. Despite consistently strong shows at Richmond over the years, he had previously fallen short of victory. This time, however, he triumphed with a well-executed strategy led by crew chief Paul Wolfe, who called for fresh tires late in the race.

The win marked Logano’s third at the track and his first since 2017. It also continued his strong second-half performance, lifting him to ninth in the standings ahead of the NASCAR Chase. Known for his success under pressure, Logano has either won championships or reached the final four every even year since 2014.

Briscoe, who led a race-high 171 laps, was left disappointed after narrowly missing the win. Despite clinching a Chase berth with his sixth top-10 finish in seven races, he expressed frustration over the loss.

Austin Cindric finished third, attributing his best result since winning at Talladega to Logano’s advice. Denny Hamlin and Chase Elliott rounded out the top five.
