Tamil Nadu Congress MP Jothimani said that actor-turned-politician Vijay is “not
new” to the Congress. She said Vijay had even met Rahul Gandhi in 2010 to talk
about possibly joining the party, but it did not happen then.
Her comments come at a time when people are guessing whether Congress and Vijay’s
TVK might work together, especially after Vijay met senior Congress leaders
following the Karur tragedy.
Jothimani said such meetings during sad or serious situations are normal
and “should not be seen as a sign of an election alliance.”
