Kepa Hero as Arsenal Beat Crystal Palace

Arsenal goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga became the hero on Tuesday night as the Gunners defeated Crystal Palace in a penalty shootout to reach the Carabao Cup semi-finals. Arsenal took the lead late in the game through a Maxence Lacroix own goal, but Crystal Palace equalized in stoppage time with a goal from Marc Guehi. The match ended 1-1 and went to penalties, where Kepa saved Lacroix’s shot and Arsenal won 8-7.

Arsenal controlled the first half and probably wondered why they were still tied at half-time. Gabriel Martinelli caused many problems down the left for Crystal Palace, creating chances for Gabriel Jesus, Noni Madueke, and Jurrien Timber, but none of them scored. Palace goalkeeper Walter Benitez played very well, making several important saves and keeping the score level until the break.
