Kerala Coast: Memories Over Election Promises

Along the long coastline of Kerala, the sea is always active, and so are the people who live near it. As the state gets ready for the Kerala Assembly elections on April 9, life in the fishing villages continues as usual.

From Thiruvananthapuram in the south to Kasaragod in the north, people in these coastal areas are not talking much about politics or election promises. Instead, their focus is on the problems they face every day.

Many fishermen and their families are worried about getting clean drinking water. They also struggle to catch enough fish to earn a living. Changes in the sea and weather have made fishing more difficult than before.

Another big concern is coastal erosion. Many people fear that the sea is slowly taking away their land. Some families worry that their homes could be damaged or even washed away overnight.

For these communities, daily survival is more important than political discussions. Their memories of past hardships and their current struggles matter more to them than future promises made during elections.
