Kerala HC Orders Vigilance Probe at Sabarimala Temple

Fresh concerns have emerged at the famous Sabarimala Temple in Kerala over missing gold, incorrect records and possible financial irregularities. Taking the matter seriously, the Kerala High Court has ordered a vigilance enquiry into the installation of the temple’s flag mast, which is considered one of the most important and sacred structures of the shrine.

The flag mast, also known as the kodimaram, holds great religious and symbolic value for devotees. Because of its importance, the court said that any work related to it must be handled carefully and transparently.

The court’s order came after questions were raised about the use of gold and funds during the installation process. There were also doubts about whether proper records were maintained and whether all materials were accounted for correctly. These issues led to suspicions of possible misuse of money and valuables.

The agency has been asked to find out if any criminal offences took place during the project. These may include criminal misappropriation, breach of trust, falsification of records, or cheating.

Officials will examine documents, financial statements and other records related to the installation. They may also question temple authorities and others involved in the project to understand what happened.

The court said that temples, especially one as important as Sabarimala, must maintain complete honesty and accountability in their administration. Any wrongdoing, if found, should be dealt with strictly.

The enquiry is expected to bring clarity to the allegations and ensure that public trust in the temple’s management is protected.
