Kerala High Court Directs Disclosure of Actor Assault Case Inquiry Report

In a significant development, the Kerala High Court has directed the Ernakulam District and Sessions Judge to furnish the survivor in the actor sexual assault case with a copy of the fact-finding inquiry report regarding the alleged unauthorized access to a memory card containing videos of the assault. Justice K. Babu emphasized that the court never intended for the inquiry report to be kept confidential, underscoring transparency in the legal proceedings.

The survivor’s petition highlighted findings from the forensic science laboratory report, indicating illegal access to the memory card via a mobile phone with specific applications installed.

The court’s directive follows its earlier order for a thorough inquiry into the unauthorized access incidents and provisions for legal action under the Code of Criminal Procedure if any offenses are uncovered. This decision marks a step towards ensuring accountability and justice in the ongoing case, addressing concerns regarding privacy and evidence integrity.
