KKR Struggles in Powerplay Cost IPL Match Against CSK

Chennai (Tamil Nadu), India – April 15: Kolkata Knight Riders’ bowling coach Tim Southee admitted his team gave away too many runs early on during their match against Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. KKR lost by 32 runs after conceding 72 runs in the powerplay.

Despite taking two quick wickets, KKR’s bowlers struggled with line and length in the opening overs, which allowed CSK to post a strong total of 192/5 in 20 overs. Tim Southee noted that on good batting pitches, small mistakes are quickly punished by aggressive batting. He praised his team for bouncing back in the middle overs, especially their spinners.

CSK’s innings was led by crucial contributions from Samson and Brevis, who scored 48 and 41 runs respectively. Kartik Tyagi also impressed with his bowling figures of 2/35.

In response, KKR started poorly at 29/2 but fought back through a strong partnership between skipper Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who put on 50 runs. However, a key spell from Noor Ahmad caused a collapse, leading KKR to fall to 160/7 and hand over victory to CSK.
