Around 40 librarians from different parts of the state were given the
Dr. S. R. Ranganathan awards by School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh
Poyyamozhi at the Anna Centenary Library on Wednesday. In addition, 25
librarians were honoured with library enthusiast awards (readers circle),
and 12 libraries received trophies for getting the highest number of donations

The Dr. S. R. Ranganathan Awards are given every year in memory of
the man remembered as the “Father of Library Science in India.”

Speaking at the event, Mr. Poyyamozhi said, “Librarians have a very
important role in building a knowledge-driven Tamil society. Tamil Nadu
gives great importance to scientific thinking, more than many other
