Rep. Clay Higgins, a Republican congressman, was the only person who voted
against a proposal to release the controversial files of Jeffrey Epstein.
He said the release could harm people who were not involved, even though
the bill had strong support from both parties and was backed by several leaders.
Higgins, a strong supporter of former President Donald Trump and a membe
of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, said the bill would “hurt innocent
people.” He warned that releasing the records in their current form could put
people at risk who had no connection to Epstein’s crimes.
