LSG Wins Against CSK in Thrilling IPL Match

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) easily defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by seven wickets with 20 balls remaining in an exciting IPL 2026 match at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. LSG chased down a challenging 188-run target in just 16.4 overs, thanks to Mitchell Marsh’s outstanding performance.

LSG skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to bowl first on a pitch that was slightly tricky. He explained, “We decided to bowl first because the wicket looked a bit unpredictable.” His decision worked well as LSG’s fast bowlers took early wickets.

CSK started poorly, losing three wickets in eight overs for just 52 runs. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 13, Sanju Samson got 20, and Urvil Patel only managed 6. Akash Singh was LSG’s star bowler with 3/26, dismissing the top order.

However, Kartik Sharma stabilized CSK’s innings with a strong 71 off 42 balls, including six boundaries and five sixes. He received good support from Dewald Brevis (25) and Shivam Dube (32 not out), helping CSK post 187/5 in 20 overs.

LSG started their chase powerfully, scoring 86 runs without losing a wicket in the first six overs. Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis formed an impressive partnership of 135 runs in 11.4 overs. Marsh, named Player of the Match, hit a remarkable 90 off 38 balls, including nine fours and seven sixes at a strike rate of 236.84.

Inglis contributed 36 before falling to Mukesh Choudhary. Abdul Samad added 7, while Nicholas Pooran sealed the win with an unbeaten 32 off 17, smashing four sixes. LSG reached the target comfortably at 188/3.

Akash Singh’s early wickets set the tone for LSG’s victory, while Marsh’s explosive batting was the highlight of the match. CSK’s bowlers struggled to contain LSG’s aggressive openers. The defeat leaves CSK fighting for playoff spots, while LSG ended their home game on a high note despite being out of playoff contention earlier.
