Madras High Court: No Police Permission Required for Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha at Private Places in Tamil Nadu

In a special sitting, the Madras High Court recorded the submission of the Tamil Nadu police that no permission is required to conduct Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha events, including playing bhajans and offering Annadhanam, at private temples, mandapams, or similar places. Justice N. Anand Venkatesh clarified that organizers only need to inform the police about the event, ensuring adequate security measures.

The police emphasized that restrictions would be imposed only in sensitive areas for law and order maintenance. The court noted that playing bhajans and conducting religious activities are not per se prohibited or restricted, urging responsible conduct during such events. The clarification came in response to a writ petition challenging the denial of permission for Bhajans and Annadhanam at a private marriage hall in Pattabiram.
