Paris Olympics 2024 double medallist Manu Bhaker attended the NRAI’s 75th anniversary event in New Delhi. A reporter asked her about young cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, drawing criticism from netizens.
When questioned about Vaibhav’s potential, Manu responded positively: “Age doesn’t matter if the right support is there. Talent can shine at any age.” She expressed confidence in Vaibhav becoming a star with proper guidance.
However, many felt it was unfair to ask an Olympic shooter about cricket. Sports producer Joy Bhattacharjya criticized the reporter for not focusing on Manu’s achievements in shooting. He suggested asking Vaibhav about Manu instead.
Social media users echoed similar views, feeling the reporter missed an opportunity to highlight Manu’s success.
Meanwhile, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been performing well in IPL 2026. At just 15, he scored 357 runs in eight matches with a high strike rate of 234.86, including two fifties and one century.
