MCA Launches Champions Trophy 2026 as Key Event Before T20 Mumbai League

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officially kicked off the MCA Champions Trophy 2026 on April 20 at the MCA BKC Ground in Mumbai. This tournament is a crucial warm-up event leading up to the T20 Mumbai League 2026.

The opening ceremony was graced by MCA President Ajinkya Naik, Chief Guest Rajeev Kulkarni, former India captain Diana Edulji, and several officials and players. The tournament will run from April 20th through April 30th.

Eight teams selected by MCA selectors from a pool of registered players for the T20 Mumbai League will compete in this event. Matches will take place at four venues: MCA BKC, MCA Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana in Kandivali, Dadoji Konddev Stadium in Thane, and Western Railway in Mahalaxmi.

This tournament is designed to give emerging players valuable game experience and help franchises evaluate player performance, fitness, and readiness ahead of the T20 Mumbai League auction. It also aims to shape team strategies and identify top performers.

MCA President Ajinkya Naik highlighted the importance of this event in strengthening domestic cricket. “It creates a competitive environment where new players can showcase their skills under match conditions, giving franchises a clear standard for the T20 Mumbai League,” he said.

Rajeev Kulkarni added that such tournaments are vital for player development. “They provide players with the game time, clarity, and confidence needed, while helping teams find the right combinations.”

With strong participation focused on performance, this tournament sets an exciting stage for India’s leading domestic T20 competition.
