MCG Sets Record Crowd at Ashes Match

The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) created history by recording the largest crowd ever for a single day of cricket. The record was set during the Ashes Test match between Australia and England, even before the tea break.

A massive crowd of 93,442 fans filled the stadium, breaking the earlier record of 93,013 spectators. That previous record was set during the 2015 ODI World Cup final, also held at the MCG.

Cricket fans from across Australia and around the world gathered to watch the famous Ashes rivalry, showing the huge popularity of the contest. The packed stands created an electric atmosphere, making the match even more memorable.

Officials and players welcomed the record turnout, saying it highlighted the strong support for Test cricket and the special place the Ashes series holds in the sport.
