As the two-match series against Bangladesh begins on August 13 in Darwin, he is just one wicket away from surpassing Kapil Dev’s record of 434 Test wickets. Additionally, if he takes seven more wickets across the series, he will overtake Dale Steyn’s tally of 439 and secure fifth place among the highest wicket-taking fast bowlers.
Starc, 36, has been in exceptional form recently, claiming 55 Test wickets over the past year at an impressive average of 17.32. His performances played a crucial role in Australia’s dominant 4-1 victory in the 2022-23 Ashes series. This consistent excellence makes him a strong contender for the Allan Border Medal in 2026.
