Modi Meets Spain President at AI Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held several bilateral meetings with world leaders on the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi.

During the summit, he met the President of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, at Hyderabad House. The two leaders discussed many important topics to strengthen the partnership between India and Spain.

According to the External Affairs Ministry, the discussions covered areas such as trade and economy, digital technology, innovation, healthcare, climate action, and education. Prime Minister Modi thanked Spain for its continued support in building strong relations between India and the European Union.

In a social media post, Mr. Modi said they spoke about ways to improve India-Spain friendship, especially in defence, security, and technology. He also said that the historic Free Trade Agreement with the EU will help improve economic ties with Spain and create new opportunities for people in both countries.

The Prime Minister added that India and Spain will celebrate 2026 as the India-Spain Year of Culture, Tourism and AI. He said this initiative will help strengthen people-to-people connections. He also expressed happiness that many university representatives from Spain visited India, saying this will help build stronger educational and cultural ties between the two nations.
