MRTS gets security from Government Railway Police for commuter’s safety

The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Chennai has heightened security measures for commuters using the Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS). A dedicated team of 15 police personnel, led by an assistant inspector, has been assigned patrol duty on the MRTS train services and at 17 railway stations across Chennai.

Additionally, the railways have sought the assistance of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to enhance security. This decision comes in response to a tragic incident on July 8, where a 22-year-old woman lost her life after falling from an MRTS train while resisting a mobile phone snatching attempt by two individuals on July 2.

The GRP aims to ensure the safety and well-being of MRTS commuters through increased police presence and surveillance.
