The country is celebrating the 77th Republic Day today with pride and patriotic spirit. The main celebrations are taking place at Kartavya Path in New Delhi, where President Droupadi Murmu is leading the national ceremony.
The day began with Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting the National War Memorial. The Prime Minister laid a wreath at the memorial as a mark of respect and led the country in honouring the fallen heroes.
After this, the Republic Day programme continued at Kartavya Path with the presence of the President, senior government leaders, defence officials, and many dignitaries. The national flag was unfurled and the national anthem was played, filling the atmosphere with pride.
Republic Day is celebrated every year on January 26 to mark the day when India’s Constitution came into effect in 1950. The day reminds citizens of the country’s democratic values and the sacrifices made for freedom.
