Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar on his death anniversary today, remembering his contribution to India’s struggle for independence and social reform.

In a message shared on social media, Mr. Shah described Veer Savarkar as a courageous leader who played an important role in the freedom movement. He said Savarkar not only fought against British rule but also worked to preserve and promote India’s cultural values during a challenging period in history.

The Home Minister stated that Savarkar’s revolutionary thoughts and writings provided strong ideological support to the independence movement. He noted that Savarkar inspired many young Indians through his speeches, books and political activities. From his involvement in revolutionary movements in India to his time in England, Savarkar remained committed to the cause of freedom, Mr. Shah said.

Mr. Shah also highlighted Savarkar’s role as a social reformer. He pointed out that Savarkar campaigned against untouchability and supported efforts to promote social equality. He encouraged women’s education and believed that empowering women was essential for national progress. According to Mr. Shah, Savarkar’s vision went beyond political independence and focused on building a strong and united society.

Praising his determination and sacrifices, the Home Minister said Savarkar’s life story reflects dedication, bravery and patriotism. He added that Savarkar’s message of putting the nation first continues to guide and inspire many people across the country.
