Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading the 60th All India Conference of
Directors General and Inspectors General of Police in Chhattisgarh.
The three-day meeting began yesterday at the Indian Institute of Management in
Naya Raipur. Union Home Minister Amit Shah opened the conference, saying it has
become a platform for finding solutions to internal security issues and helping
shape future policies. He said India has made strong progress in the last 11
years in fighting radicalisation, extremism, insurgency, and drug-related crimes.
Amit Shah stressed the importance of accurate intelligence, clear goals, and
coordinated action to protect the country from new types of threats. He said
the discussions at the conference will help create a roadmap for better policing
under the vision of Viksit Bharat. He also presented Police Medals for Meritorious
Service and awards for the top three police stations in the country. The theme this year is “Viksit Bharat: Security Dimensions”, with a focus on building advanced security systems for modern challenges.
The conference is also holding detailed discussions on major issues such as
Left-Wing Extremism, counter-terrorism, disaster management, women’s safety,
and the use of forensic science and artificial intelligence in policing.
National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai,
DGPs from States and Union Territories, and chiefs of central police organisations
are attending the conference.
