Navy Chief Highlights Maritime Cooperation at Goa Conclave

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi stressed the importance of strong maritime cooperation while inaugurating the fifth edition of the Goa Maritime Conclave today.

Speaking at the event, the Navy Chief referred to the recent gathering of 74 nations in Visakhapatnam for the International Fleet Review and the harbour and sea phases of MILAN as a “maritime Mahakumbh.” He said the large participation from countries around the world shows the growing importance of global maritime partnerships and cooperation.

Admiral Tripathi highlighted the strategic importance of the oceans. He noted that more than 70 per cent of the Earth’s surface is covered by water. He also pointed out that 95 per cent of India’s trade by volume and over 68 per cent by value is carried through sea routes, making maritime security and cooperation vital for the country’s economy.

The Navy Chief further announced that IOS Sagar 2.0 will be launched soon. He said such initiatives aim to strengthen maritime collaboration, enhance regional security, and promote shared growth among nations.

The Goa Maritime Conclave brings together representatives from various countries to discuss issues related to maritime security, cooperation, and sustainable development in the Indian Ocean region.
