NCB Busts Interstate Drug Racket, Seizes 35 kg MD, Mysore Lab Exposed

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has busted a major interstate drug trafficking network and uncovered a secret mephedrone (MD) manufacturing lab in Mysore. The operation led to the seizure of a large quantity of drugs and exposed an organised syndicate involved in illegal drug production and supply.

Based on intelligence inputs, an NCB team tracked the movement of suspects and intercepted a Toyota Fortuner SUV with a Karnataka registration number on January 28 at Palsana in Gujarat’s Surat district. When officers searched the vehicle, they found around 35 kg of mephedrone hidden inside.

The seized drug, commonly known as MD, is a synthetic stimulant and is banned under the law. Officials said the value of the seized drugs runs into several crores of rupees in the illegal market.

After questioning the suspects and analysing further leads, the NCB team traced the source of the drugs to a clandestine laboratory operating in Mysore. A follow-up raid was conducted at the location, where equipment and chemicals used for manufacturing mephedrone were recovered.

Officials said the lab was set up secretly to produce drugs in large quantities and supply them across different states. The operation is believed to have links to an interstate trafficking network.

The NCB has arrested the accused and is continuing its investigation to identify other members of the syndicate and track down the supply chain. Authorities said strict action will be taken against those involved in the illegal drug trade.
