Indian shooter Neeru Dhanda created history at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya by winning the gold medal in the women’s individual trap event.
Dhanda produced a strong performance and finished with a score of 28, setting a new Asian record. China’s Yunong Sun won the silver medal with 26 points, while Kuwait’s Abdulmalik Hajar took bronze with 21 points.
The victory marked an important achievement for Indian shooting at the Asian Games. Dhanda became the first Indian woman to win an individual gold medal in the trap event at the Games.
Her gold also increased India’s overall medal tally at the 2026 Asian Games. India reached 47 medals, including five gold, 21 silver and 21 bronze, moving the country to 11th place in the overall standings.
Dhanda’s performance adds to India’s strong presence in shooting, which has continued to contribute medals across different events at the competition.
The historic victory is another significant milestone in Dhanda’s career and gives India an additional gold medal as the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games continue.
