LALITPUR, NEPAL: Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav said that women entrepreneurs play a very important role in building a strong, self-reliant, and sustainable society. He shared these views while inaugurating the 9th International Women’s Trade Expo held in Lalitpur on Friday.
The event is organized by the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs’ Associations of Nepal (FWEAN). The main aim of the expo is to help women business owners promote and sell their products in a wider market and gain more opportunities for growth.
More than 5,700 women entrepreneurs are part of this federation. Many of them have brought their handmade and locally produced goods to showcase at the expo. These include food items, handicrafts, clothing, and other small business products made across different parts of Nepal.
During his speech, the Vice President said that women entrepreneurship is not only important for family income but also for bringing positive change in society. He added that when women become financially independent, it helps improve education, health, and living standards in communities.
He also said that supporting women-led businesses will help strengthen Nepal’s overall economy and create more jobs for people.
On this occasion, awards were given to recognize successful women entrepreneurs. Nirmala Mahto received the Best Women Entrepreneur award from Madhesh Province. Another award was given to Bhavani Rana, who was honored as an Outstanding Women Business Leader.
The expo will continue until April 5. It provides a platform for women from different districts to display their products, connect with buyers, and expand their businesses at the national and international level.
